a collection of random thoughts

A good sporcle for Latin scholar friends: http://www.sporcle.com/games/Handle1/Latin_Beatles

Whoever invented croutons is my hero.  What else would you do with vaguely stale in bread?  And even if you don’t want croutons, they make the kitchen smell so good!  Mince garlic until its teensy, throw it on some melted butter, and then toss until that butter soaks into the bread and crisps the little pieces to perfection.

Sidenote:  I’m a sucker for movies like Remember the Titans and Miracle.  Oh Ryan Gosling and TURK.  “I just gave your mama a piggy back ride and she weighs twice as much as I do!”  I’m so excited about Friday Night Lights coming back on in September.

I’m the worst kind of ice cream eater.  You do not want to eat ice cream after I’ve had my way with it.  I’m currently tearing through a half gallon of Caramel Caribou right now and it’s toffee flavored ice cream with caramel cups and denali caramel swirls.  And I’ve already extracted all the caramel cups… and the swirls are almost all gone.  So the ice cream part is sitting in little strangely shaped chunks, feeling seriously neglected.  Sorrrrry!

a poem about eggs…

fried egg

a fried egg is the perfect marriage

between slippery, buttery white

and gooey sunshine

indefinitely bonded through the flick of a wrist

and pan

the furious oozing of the yolk over easy

paired with the frantic movements

of a chunk of challah

is a race

fit to be eaten

after a nonchalant fling of salt

and an premonition of ground pepper

Really into eggs right now.

love.
